CLEVELAND – (BUSINESS WIRE) – MediView XR, Inc., a digital health company developing cutting edge Augmented Reality (AR) enabled “x-ray vision,” surgical navigation, remote collaboration, and data insights for healthcare, today announced that the company has received an investment from JobsOhio’s Growth Capital Fund. JobsOhio is a private nonprofit economic development corporation with a mission to drive job creation and new capital investment in Ohio through business attraction, retention, and expansion.

MediView was founded in 2017 based upon intellectual property, including 3 issued patents, initially developed by, and licensed from, the Cleveland Clinic.  MediView has since partnered with Microsoft and GE Healthcare to bring these incredible technologies to market.  “Ohio’s robust foundation of global clinical leaders, innovative institutions, infrastructure, employment base and investment offer companies like MediView the unique opportunity to develop and commercialize new technologies that can revolutionize healthcare and other industries.” said Adam Rakestraw, Cofounder & Chairman of MediView.

“We are proud to have aligned with the JobsOhio Growth Capital Fund to support MediView’s ability to drive innovation and job opportunities locally while fortifying MediView as a global innovator in the emerging healthcare augmented reality metaverse,” said Mina Fahim, CEO & President of MediView. “We look forward to working together to further support Ohio as an epicenter of technical and clinical innovation now and in future funding rounds.”

“MediView is an exciting, emerging digital health company that is a natural partner for the JobsOhio Growth Capital Fund, ,” said J.P. Nauseef, President and CEO at JobsOhio. “Ohio’s comprehensive network of innovative institutions offers companies the opportunity to collaborate and partner on new discoveries that can further their competitive advantage and impact their respective industries, including cutting edge augmented reality applications for surgery and healthcare.”

MediView’s flagship product, the XR90 surgical navigation system, uses augmented reality to give clinicians “x-ray vision” through a patient’s skin for percutaneous or minimally invasive procedures such as treating cancer.  As the practitioner steps up to the patient, they can see the patient’s internal anatomy through their skin in a way never before possible. As the surgeon picks up their instruments, the system tracks the instruments to the targeted anatomy and helps guide them to the targeted location to identify or treat cancerous tumors.  To date, 17 in-human patient evaluations have been completed at the Cleveland Clinic and these evaluations are expected to expand to other sites this year.  The system also allows the surgeon to remotely collaborate with other clinicians around the world from the surgeon’s point-of-view of their environment with voice, video and the ability to provide visual directions that appear in front of the surgeon within the operative site.
